A Family Estate with a Passion for Terroir and Quality

In the picturesque wine village of Saint-Hippolyte, along the famous Route des Vins d’Alsace, you’ll find the authentic family-run wine estate of Aline and Rémy Simon. What began on a modest scale in 1996 has, over the course of several decades, grown into a respected producer of traditional, estate-grown wines.

The story began when Aline, who was working as a medical secretary at the time, and Rémy decided to take over the family estate. Rémy brought experience from the wine industry, while Aline contributed her organisational skills. When their parents retired, they took over the vineyards - initially around two hectares - and set themselves the challenge of producing and selling their own wines. With plenty of dedication and a clear vision, they began bottling around 5,000 bottles a year in 1996.

The Simon family’s approach is rooted in a deep respect for the terroir. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected, helping to preserve the purity and character of the wines. This small-scale, artisanal way of working has earned their wines regular recognition in well-known competitions and wine guides. The estate is also certified Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE), an important French environmental certification that recognises sustainable vineyard management.

Over the years, the estate has expanded to almost 20 hectares, while the reputation of its wines has continued to grow. The Simons produce a wide range of Alsace wines, including Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Muscat, Pinot Noir and Crémant d’Alsace. Each has its own character while remaining true to the distinctive style of the region. Their wines are classified as vins fins d’Alsace, while special cuvées such as “Saint-Hippolyte” and “Vieilles Vignes” showcase the depth and character the estate has developed over the years.

Alongside the winery, Aline and Rémy also run holiday cottages and guest rooms in a charming 18th-century house in the heart of the village. This gives visitors the opportunity not only to taste the wines, but also to experience the rich culture, scenery and atmosphere of Alsace.
Today, the next generation, including sons such as Grégory and Xavier, is continuing the family tradition, helping to secure the future of the domaine. It is a story of dedication, authenticity and continuous development - a wine estate where respect for the past goes hand in hand with an open-minded approach to the future.
